The Turning Point: A New Offer, A New Decision
Published Saturday, February 15th 2025 - Updated Saturday, February 22nd 2025In 2021, I got an offer that seemed like the answer to everything. A job as a Regulatory Compliance Officer for an online gaming company. I dove into this new role, and I was good at it. Reading through endless Terms and Conditions, ensuring our internal controls followed the rules—it was tough work. But it came naturally to me. I’d spent years handling risk in the finance world, so compliance felt like second nature.
I was doing great, making nearly six figures, and I thought, “I’ve made it.” But the corporate grind, the demands, and the constant pressure soon showed me otherwise. Then, one day, they backed me into a corner. They wanted me to choose either bend to their will or walk away with my head held high.
I made the decision. I walked.
That decision led to an unforgettable family cruise. It was on that cruise—while I felt the peace of the open ocean and the thrill of exploring new places—that I realized what I was missing. The adventure, the freedom, the joy of seeing people experience the world in ways they never thought possible.
It was then that I knew. This was the moment I had been waiting for. This was the push I needed to go all in. From that point forward, I took the risk and jumped headfirst into the world of travel.
